EEG & Neurodiagnostic Services

The Neurodiagnostic Lab provides inpatient and outpatient services for the evaluation of the functional physiology of the central and peripheral nervous system. Neurodiagnostic Technologists perform diagnostic exams on the inpatient and outpatient population as well as intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring for Neuro, Orthopedic and ENT surgeries in the operating room at Hoag hospital Newport Beach (HHNB) and Irvine (HHI). Neurodiagnostic Lab services include a wide variety of procedures. Including routine, extended, sleep deprived and bedside continuous long term video electroencephalography (VLTM) as well as after hour BrainNet services. Other services provided are brain stem auditory evoked potentials (BAEP), somatosensory evoked potentials (SSEP) and visual evoked potentials (VEP). Neurohospitalist provide nerve conduction NCV and electromyography EMG testing.

Epilepsy Monitoring Technologists perform 24/7 direct patient observation in the Epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU) and our administrative staff provide Neuroscience institutional program support for movement disorders, spine, MS, HA stroke and in house support for our Neurohospitalists.

IOM Intraoperative Neurophysiologic Monitoring

We provide Intraoperative Neurophysiologic monitoring for a variety of case types, which includes neurosurgery and ENT. There has been an increase in cases requiring monitoring from 296 cases in 2016 to 463 cases in 2017.
