Hoag again recognized as Orange County’s highest-ranked hospital for top-quality care by U.S. News & World Report

Newport Beach, CA (July 29, 2025) – Hoag has again been named the highest-ranked hospital in Orange County, as well as the fourth-best in the Los Angeles metro area and ninth-best in California by U.S. News & World Report in its 2025–2026 Best Hospitals rankings.

This marks the ninth consecutive year that Hoag has been ranked highest in Orange County in the annual Best Hospitals rankings and ratings. This year, Hoag also advanced one spot in each of its regional rankings compared to last year. The rankings also included a national ranking in one specialty area and recognition for Hoag’s “high performing” ratings in five adult specialties and 20 common procedures and conditions.

The annual rankings and ratings serve as a resource to help patients make informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions and common elective procedures.

Hoag’s orthopedics services, provided by the Hoag Orthopedic Institute, received recognition on the list of adult specialties, ranking No. 47 nationally.

Additional rankings included high performing (top 10%) in five adult specialties: gastroenterology & GI surgery; geriatrics; neurology & neurosurgery; pulmonary & lung surgery; and urology. Hoag was also rated as high performing in 20 common adult procedures and conditions: aortic valve surgery; back surgery (spinal fusion); chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); colon cancer surgery; diabetes; gynecological cancer surgery; heart attack; heart bypass surgery; heart failure; hip fracture; hip replacement; kidney failure; knee replacement; leukemia, lymphoma & myeloma; lung cancer surgery; pacemaker implantation; pneumonia; prostate cancer surgery; stroke; and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR).

The U.S. News Best Hospitals methodologies in most areas of care are based largely on objective measures such as risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, volume and quality of nursing, among other care-related indicators.
