Melissa L. Romo is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Women’s Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California in Marriage and Family Therapy. Melissa has over 8 years of clinical psychotherapy experience working with children, adults, couples, and families in residential, educational and hospital-based settings.  She is trained in suicide risk assessment, crisis intervention, trauma informed care, and advanced perinatal mental health psychotherapy and has experience in working with diverse populations to address a variety of mental health needs. Melissa’s passion for the emotional changes experienced by individuals during pregnancy and postpartum grew after becoming a mother herself. She has since dedicated her practice to the treatment of mental health issues related to childbearing. Her approach is collaborative, warm, inviting, and emotion focused. She uses evidence-based, trauma informed practices to help guide individuals towards living a more balanced, enriched and healthy lifestyle. Melissa recognizes that the healing journey encompasses all that makes up who we are, while mental health symptoms are the mind and body’s way of informing us it’s time to work towards healing.
