Prerna Rao has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for 10 years and has worked in the field of Mental Health for over 15 years. Her current position sits as the Clinical Manager for the Hoag ASPIRE and Young adult mental health program. Her experience ranges from working in adolescent inpatient and substance abuse, included but not limited to, CA probation, department of children and family services, foster youth, and juvenile detention centers. In addition, she has had the privilege of managing several facilitates both operational and clinically, as a Clinical Director and  Clinical Supervisor. After completing her master’s program, she then moved on to work with adults in locked psychiatric hospitals ranging from dual diagnosis to primary mental health. She has a wide range of experience working in the nonprofit sector related to Medi-Cal patients and operationalizing and working closely with the Department of Mental Health. Along with this, she currently has a private practice, specializing in the Asian American demographic. In addition to consultation, Prerna also teaches at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Adjunct Faculty for master’s level students. Prerna’s clinical style comes from her ability to mentor, guide, and nurture as well as educate, all while ensuring patient care is followed. Her style is based on the foundational work that future interns and licensed therapist abide by all legal and ethical practices and impact the lives of patients positively with compassion and understanding.
