Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Many patients referred to Hoag Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center may require
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)
treatments provided by physicians and clinical staff who are trained in hyperbaric medicine.
The specialists at Hoag Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center will evaluate each patient’s condition and determine if HBOT is an appropriate treatment.
HBOT is a treatment that delivers a high concentration of oxygen to the bloodstream, which helps increase the body’s own natural wound healing ability. Patients breathe pure oxygen while enclosed in a chamber at a greater than normal atmospheric pressure. This saturates the blood plasma, allowing it to carry 15 to 20 times the normal amount of healing oxygen to the body’s tissues.
