A patient with a wound that is not healing properly should first consult with their physician to determine the correct course of action. Types of conditions that physicians recommend for specialized care can include: diabetic foot ulcers, venous leg ulcers, a chronic wound from radiation therapy, or a skin injury that won’t heal. Even seemingly small diabetic foot wounds, if unrecognized or undertreated, can rapidly progress, resulting in infection, amputation and loss of mobility, and sometimes permanent disability.
