Herbert Family Program for Young Adults With Type 1 Diabetes
The number of children and young adults with type 1 diabetes has doubled in the past 25 years and is expected to double again in the next 15-20 years. Young adults with type 1 diabetes represent an underserved population with much needed attention. Hoag's Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center offer the Herbert Family Program which focuses on meeting the unique needs of young adults with type 1 diabetes (age 18-30s). The program addresses the financial, psychological, social and physical changes that challenge not only the young adult but also their family and support system.
